Education
Dr. Cage’s formal education includes a Bachelors degree in Physics & Astronomy from Whitman College in 1983; a Masters degree in Space Technology from Florida Tech in 1985; a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine, from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Health Sciences (since renamed Sonoran University) in 2002; and a Masters degree in Oriental Medicine from Samra University in 2005.
Professional Experience
Dr. Cage began professional life as an engineer and manager in the aerospace industry. He worked on the space shuttle program at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, and for a large satellite manufacturer. A growing interest in natural health prompted him to make a career change, and he returned to school to become a Naturopathic physician and acupuncturist. He opened and operated two wholistic clinics in California where he specialized in chronic disease, endocrinology, gynecology, fertility and chronic pain. His new Hamilton, MT clinic is his latest offering.
He has worked as a consultant in the nutritional supplement industry (details here), operates the on-line Dr. Cage Says health community, and hosts a podcast, Total Health with Dr. Cage, based on a previous on-air radio show of the same name.
Teaching Experience
In parallel with his other professional activities, Dr. Cage has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He taught physics at Scottsdale Community College in Scottsdale, Arizona. He taught at the Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture in Phoenix, Arizona, where he continues to teach continuing education classes. He has also been on faculty at the Emperors College of Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica, California. Over the years, he has also taught numerous continuing education courses for Naturopathic physicians, Acupuncturists, Nurses, Medical Doctors and Osteopathic Doctors.
Community Service
Dr. Cage served on the Board of Trustees of Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (his alma mater). He has also been on the board of the California Naturopathic Doctors Association, including two years as President.
Healthy Lifestyles
Dr. has been an organic gardener for many years and produces many of his own herbal medicines. He owned an organic goat dairy for many years, and also raised llamas and alpacas.
